UW hosts student robotics ‘moon landing’ challenge

We have 28 teams from across Washington
state trying to model the lunar landing using drones. They built their own lander. I always wanted to be an astronaut and when I heard that our state is doing
this I really wanted to do it. So just like in Mission Control when they have
problems they come up with solutions but it’s really fun doing it. Sometimes it’s a bit intimidating, particularly for students so what we’ve done is create an
environment where they can explore the technology, experience system engineering
firsthand. For a long time I really loved flying and it’s what I want to do with my future. Everybody has their own ideas, (applause) own ideas everybody’s just so happy and
it’s so fun around here. Yeah! Best part? Meeting other people who like
this kind of stuff.
