Hello, thank you so much for such an amazing tutorial. I need 5v power supply for my NodeMCU (esp8266 based board) with 300mA. I tried using your formula and seems like its giving a value which I am not able to understand how to get that value capacitor here is my formula values I have used.

((230*4)-6.5)/0.5 = 1827
1/( (2*3.1416) * 50 * 1827) = 0.000001742250366

So what capacitor should I use here? As it looks a bit complicated for me to understand why you used "x10^-6".

The capacitive power supply always needs a zener diode for voltage regulation because is a current device and the output voltage depends from the current consuming.Without a zener and a load being connected the output voltage is 220V.So capacitors will blown along with other components and here its the real dark side danger.It is not isolated from mains and this is well known.
