Friends. in today’s lecture we will learn about the “Transformerless power supply” today i will tell you some secrete formula’s by using these formula’s you can design your own power supply of required current and voltages i already poste a video about “Transformerless power supply” but some friends have doubts abut transformerless power supply i am making this video for clearing those doubts. table of contents of today’s video are as follows. A- Block Diagram in this section we will see the purpose of different blocks. and we will see which components are use in this block and which component is necessary and which is for protection B -we will see some formula’s that you can use for design a power supply of your requirement. C – we will solve an example the example will help you to understand the formula’s D – we will perform an experiment E – and then you can ask your questions in comment section , i will answer you . Did you like this video? and what you learn in this video tell me I am waiting. if you like the video thumb up for me . we will start form block diagram this is the input voltage section and this is the output voltage section. at this point we will apply input voltage and after step-down we will run this load i use an led and current limiting resistor as a load the first component of this block diagram is a series resistor or current limiting resistor the purpose of this resistor is to protect the x-rated capacitor form switching harmonics. if you don’t block these harmonics , this will blow up the x-rated capacitor the x-rated capacitor is the heart of this power supply so we can say the series resistor is the protection of x-rated capacitor we use another resistor in parallel with the capacitor the purpose of this resistor is to provide a reverse path for charges stored in cap. after switch off supply. this resistor is known as Bleeder Resistor after step down the voltage we will use a bridge rectifier the purpose of the bridge rectifier is to convert AC voltage into DC voltages. but the DC voltage form bridge rectifier are not pure DC these are the pulsating DC voltages. for making a pure DC a filter unit is used and here i use a capacitor for filtration. and then we will use a regulator the purpose of regulator is to remove variations which are coming from input. to protect the load form variations. in regulator section we can use zener diode or 78xx series regulator and finally this is our load. this is the simplified block diagram of this power supply. many friends were asking me where is the actual voltage drop occurs in this circuit. the voltages at every point are shown as the input voltage the answer of that question is the voltages at these two points are low but if you will check the voltage between any point of this circuit reference to ground the voltage will be equal to 220 or 230 volts which are the same as suppl volts. according to the question, where is the drop take place ? the answer is so simple the voltage between -ve and +ve lead are low and step down occur between these leads but high or same as the supply voltage , between ground and any lead of this circuit so don’t touch at any part of this circuit in reality the voltage between these two leads are low and i will prove this by running an LED with this circuit . so the purpose of the filter unit is to remove ripple for Smooth DC output at load point. in the next section we will look some formula’s the formula’s in previous video was in detail so many friend was confused so, today i will show you only tow simplified formula’s which you can use to find the value of components. these are the simplified formula’s 1st formula can be use to calculat the impedance and the 2nd one can be used to find the capacitor value. the most important formula is the 2nd one. actually we use these tow formula’s to find the capacitor value. but we need Xc in 2nd formula which we calculte form 1st formula. here the vaue of Z and Xc are same first of all we have rms voltage which are supply voltage if we will say 220 or 230 volts . these are the rms voltages we can’t use these voltage for calculation we will convert rms voltage into peak voltages for peak voltages we will multiply with root 2 in this way rms voltages will convert into peak voltages after that we will subtract the required voltage or load v. and then we will divide this with output current make sure the value of Iout will be in ampare if you have mA then convert them in amp befor putting we will do an example of this in a mint. after calculating the value of z put in 2nd formula and you can check the frequency with frequency meter. and the value of pi is 3.1416 and the answer of this equation will be the value of x-rated capacitor and now we will solve an example here is the required data to solve an example here i chose 5 volt for deriving the led, but the voltages of the led are 3.6 volts . the remaining 1.4 will drop in bridge rectifier now we will put the data in formula. i already show you the formula’s simply put the given data in formula here i convert the mA into Amps. for finding the value of capacitor we will use Z=Xc simply put the data in formula Now we will perform an experiment if you learn something from this video like the video and also share this with your friends press subscribe button and bell icon for new updates give me the feedback in comment section i am waiting your feedback so here is our final circuit for experiment this is the series resistor . i use 560 ohm and 1/2 watt resistor i can’t tell all about this resistor in this video the calculation of this resistor is little difficult . i will make another video about current limiting resistor as soon as possible if you need the calculation of this resistor ask me in comment section for this time use 500 to 560 ohm and 1/2 to 1 watt don’t use less power resistor the capacitor which i use here is the non polar capacitor after that i sue a bridge rectifier and finally i use the led and resistor as a load here i am not using the filter unit and regulator unit because some friends were thinking that the actual voltage drop is because of regulator. i will show you that this circuit will work properly without regulator unit now Switch the Ac supply ON and check the circuit here you can see the led is switched ON please don’t touch any part of this circuit if you will touch it will cause serious injure you can see the led is blinking slowly because the the output of bridge rectifier is not perfect DC to solve this problem use a filter capacitor before load the another problem is the variation of dc supply to fix the output voltage constant use a regulator unit we can use any regulator of 78xx series according to your need you can also use a ziner diode for regulator if you have any doubt about this section ask me in comment section i will make a separate video of this section don’t miss to ask any question share your suggestion about this video what you learn new in this video . if you want to give any suggestion please post in comment section i am waiting you comment and questions

  6. में आपका नया नया वीडियो बहुत देखता हूँ मैने इनमेसे कई नए प्रोजेक्ट भी बनाएहे हालमेंही मेने 12 LED बोर्ड़ के लिए एक ट्रांसफॉर्मर लेस सर्किट बनाई है इनमे एक प्रॉब्लम है LED ज्यादा होनेके कारण कम जलती है cap 105 250v का डबल करके देखलिया फिरभी 12 v पूरा नही होता जिससे LED थोड़ी डिम रहती है तो PLS आप बताइए 12 V के लिए क्या चेंज करना चाहिए।?

  8. Hello, thank you so much for such an amazing tutorial. I need 5v power supply for my NodeMCU (esp8266 based board) with 300mA. I tried using your formula and seems like its giving a value which I am not able to understand how to get that value capacitor here is my formula values I have used.

    ((230*4)-6.5)/0.5 = 1827
    1/( (2*3.1416) * 50 * 1827) = 0.000001742250366

    So what capacitor should I use here? As it looks a bit complicated for me to understand why you used "x10^-6".

Sir muje, 10 raise to power -7 kaise aaya or Apne ise -6 me kaise convert kiye, ye nahi samaj aaya, Maine apki calculation manually ki to calculater ke last me e-7 tha means 10 raise to power -7 but meri alag calculation me 10 raise to power -6 AA Raha hai to ise to nahi further calculate karne ki means 10 raise to power – 6 me convert karne ki because it is already in -6

The capacitive power supply always needs a zener diode for voltage regulation because is a current device and the output voltage depends from the current consuming.Without a zener and a load being connected the output voltage is 220V.So capacitors will blown along with other components and here its the real dark side danger.It is not isolated from mains and this is well known.

  20. Sir please series resistor ka value 560 ohm kaisay aap nay calculation kiya hay woos par thora bataye ye…. aur parallel resister (for discharge) ka value 1 mega ohm ka bhi calculation batayega please : )
