Texas A&M University-Kingsville President Mark A. Hussey Update 3/25/2020

Dr. Mark Hussey: Good morning I wanted to use this time
to provide you with a brief update on recent events at Texas A&M
University-Kingsville. As you know a lot has happened in the past three weeks as
our campus, local communities, and nation have responded to COVID-19. When everyone
left for spring break I believe that all anticipated returning
to campus to complete the spring semester. Last week we extended spring
break to allow our faculty time to move your courses online so that the semester
might continue uninterrupted. Faculty response to this request was tremendous,
and I believe that all classes are now being offered in a virtual environment.
Last week also provided time for us to move many of our offices to remote
locations. While our residence halls, foodservice, the business office, computer
labs and a few other essential offices remain open employees are working
remotely. However those offices that are working
from remote locations remain open and should be available to answer questions
by either email or telephone between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Also I apologize for moving the Town Hall that was originally scheduled for
this week to next week. Please know that both my leadership team and I are
looking forward to answering your questions. We however needed some extra
time to implement and communicate a process for Housing and Dining credits.
For those of you who chose not to return to campus from Spring Break. In addition
there are a few questions that you have asked which require me to consult with
faculty and student leadership before making a decision. I plan to do that this
week so that we might provide you with the most complete update as possible on
Monday. Again we look forward to our visit next week, please continue to
monitor the COVID-19 page on our campus website for recent developments. We will
continue to post updates to this site as they become available. In
the meantime please continue to practice the appropriate social distancing, good
personal hygiene, and follow instructions from your health and government
officials. Stay Safe Javelinas! you
