How To Update Your Windows 10 Computer

Hello ladies and gentlemen and welcome back
to this windows 10 course. In this video we will understand how to update
our window 10 computers. Microsoft is constantly making improvements
to windows 10, trying to fix bugs or another problems with windows 10. They release these improvements in the form
of updates. Updates are free so you dont have to worry
about paying for updates. But there is a difference between upgrades
and updates because they are not the same thing. An upgrade is a huge change to your operating
system like for example, Starting from windows 8.1 and upgrading to windows 10. Small updates do not cause any huge change
to your operating system, just minor changes like new security updates things like that. You can also think of big updates to your
computer has the same has upgrades. For example, the windows 10 may 2019 update
would be considered a big update because some of the features inside windows 10 will be
either removed or replaced with up to date features that microsoft thinks would be best
for you to use. To check for updates for your windows 10 computer
we have to go to your best friend again which is the settings app. So we can press on the start button again
over here at the bottom left hand side to open the start menu. Then on the left hand side you should see
five icons. The one we want to click on is the icon that
looks like a gear. When you press on that, the settings app opens. The category that we want to click on is the
update and security category which is over here. When you press on that, you should be in the
windows update subcategory of the update and security category of the settings app. So to begin sometimes windows will install
updates in the middle of you doing something on your computer. This could be very annoying especially if
you have a important task that you are working on. This is why microsoft came out with a solution
called active hours. You can find that button over here, when you
click on that button. So how this works is you pick a start time
and end time where windows can start doing updates. You can click on the box under start time
and end time to change the hours. Once you picked your hours, windows will not
restart your computer automatically for updates outside the time frame you have here. Windows will only restart your computer inside
the time frame you have picked for updates. It’s a good idea to use this feature if
you dont want windows to bother you with an update while your using your computer. But if you want to check for any updates microsoft
has in stored for you. All you have to do is press on this button. Called check for updates. When you press on that button windows will
go online and search for updates regarding your windows 10 computer and if any were found
they will show up in this section and start downloading. I dont have any updates at the moment because
i am up to date but you might not be up to date and you should see updates downloading
in your windows 10 update section if your not up to date with your updates. Just know that depending on the update the
completion of the update may take awhile. When windows is finished updating, you may
see a notification asking you to restart your computer. Some updates require a restart button to work
properly, so go ahead and press on that button to start restarting your computer. Im my case since i never had any updates to
begin with, i do not see a restart button. But you may see a restart button depending
on the type of updates you installed. So just remember when your updating and you
see a restart notification, go ahead and press on that button so that you can fully update
your computer the right way. So updates may be big so the process of restarting
may take awhile. This video was for people who didnt know how
to update your windows 10 computer, but now you know. Thank you so much for watching, and i will
talk to you in the next video.
