How to Replace the M.2 Solid State Drive Before you begin: Remove the base enclosure and battery. Removal Peel back the foil mylar from the metal shield that covers the M.2 solid state drive. Remove the black P1 Phillips-head screw that secures the metal shield over the M.2 solid state drive. Lift the metal shield and remove. Remove the silver P1 Phillips-head screw that secures the M.2 solid state drive to the top cover. Grasp the M.2 solid state drive by the edges and pull gently to remove. Replacement Align the notch on the M.2 solid state drive with the key in the M.2 solid state drive slot on the system board. Insert the M.2 solid state drive into its slot on the system board. Replace the silver P1 Phillips-head screw that secures the M.2 solid state drive to the top cover. Place the metal shield over its alignment pins on the top cover. Replace the black P1 Phillips-head screw that secures the metal shield to the top cover. Smooth over the foil mylar that covers the metal shield.
