Hello and welcome to the calculator
guide video on the percentage button or calculating percentages. We are going to use the calculator to work out the percentage of an amount in this example
we’re going to find fifteen percent of 480. Type in 15 and then we want to access the percentage function. We can do this by pressing SHIFT and then the left
bracket, that should display a percentage in our calculators display and if we multiply by 480 and press equals, that should give us 72 We’re going to increase by percentage
now, 550 grams by 22 percent. If 550 represents a hundred percent of the
total amount and we want to have an EXTRA twenty two percent or a hundred
twenty-two percent in total. Type in 122 and then press SHIFT and then percentage
we want to multiply this by 550 and then press equals which should give us an answer
671 If you prefer you can use the decimal
equivalent of 122 percent, which is 1.22 You may find this method more convenient You can also decrease by percentages. In
this example within to decrease 260 by twelve percent. 260 is a hundred percent
of the total amount and we want twelve percent less or eighty eight percent. Press
88 and then SHIFT and the percentage Then multiply this by 260 and press
equals for the answer. The calculator has given us an exact answer, so we need to press the
SD button to change it to the decimal equivalent, 228.8 Again, if you prefer you can use the decimal equivalent of eighty percent or 0.88 Again, you need to press the SD button. Thank you for watching see you on the next video from The Calculator Guide

  1. Whats the software called? The on screen calculator, also Thanks, Helped me with my homework as I didn't understand how to calculate percentages at all.

  2. it is so much easier adding a percentage  by  just adding the percent amount to the number you want to increase and then hitting the percent sign button.    550 + 22% = 671

  3. sorry buddy but this is not working, when i press shift and then bracket button, it doesn't works, i hv Casio fx-82ES …

  4. Its good and all but your increase answer is wrong. When I put it into the calculator it was 610 not 671 like you said. Thanks for the help anyway 😉

  5. Thank you very much, very helpful! I am wondering if it's possible to save time and program it to make it implied that we want to add the % on the amount. E.g. the cost of making a chocolate is 50 cents and I want to add a mark-up profit on cost of 25%. On my tablet, I just press 50+25%. With the calculator I have to press 25%x50+50 which is a bit longer I might have a higher chance of error.

  6. omd, God sent me this video….. i have my maths calculator exam tomorrow and i feel like this saved my life

  7. Why does 100-25% give 99.75 when it should say 75? Why would that answer give a fraction and how is that useful?
    Thanks
