BYU Women in Computer Science – Chloe Hale

I’m Chloe Hale and I am a software
engineer at lucid software in South Jordan Utah and I work on our iPhone and
iPad apps some advice that I give to women are to really look at what you’re
doing like do you like computer science do you like coding do you like
programming and if you do don’t let anything stop you from doing it do it
you look in a job women will say ah I don’t fit all of these requirements for
the job so I’m not going to apply where these guys to say oh I match what I’m
gonna apply and so that’s kind of where you see that imbalance cause problems
I’ve just tried to tell the women that I talked to you know value your
contribution value what you can do and and don’t underrate it it is a super
creative medium I’ve actually come to realize that there’s mediums like
painting and drawing and those kind of things that are limited because you know
you have to have a canvas you have to have a paintbrush you have to have paint
and when you run out of paint you can’t you can’t do more
whereas computer science is literally you’re making things with words and
words are unlimited yeah you’re limited by the hardware and on how fast things
can run and whatever what not whatever platform you’re developing for but that
said is so creative because whatever you can think up you can build we should spread the word about how
great of a job Tech is for women how flexible it is how creative it creative
it is how fun it is all of these great opportunities that Tech provides and
then let women choose if it’s something for them you
