Babaagba from Nigeria – MSc Computer Information Engineering

My name is Babaagba Kehinde I’m studying
Computer Information Engineering at Masters level, which I’m rounding up. I chose RGU for a couple of reason, one of
which is the fact that I have a few friends here who told me about the course, told me
that it’s a good place to study and one thing that has really made RGU a choice for
a lot of people, International students is because of the adverts that it is the UK’s
best school for employability. The facts that I know I was told which I found out that it
was true, the fact that it has a good environment for schooling. Community is Welcoming. I have a background in Computer science, my
first degree was in computer science so it was only natural to do a computing course
for my masters and Information engineering was the core computing science course that
was available for masters, so I just chose that. The thing I like about my course that really
stands out for me is the fact that the way the course, the syllabus is structured is
in such a way that they put things that are relevant to the industry, you know the computing
industry. So you’re not just learning a bunch of things that might not find relevant
when you go to the industry. So it’s like you’re getting hands on knowledge and for
a course like computing, it’s about the skill, the technical prowess as opposed to
how much you can say about it so they want you to be able to get in to it. And the way
the course is structured we have lots of labs, we’re assessed by labs and so I really love
that, that’s one thing I really appreciate. Aside from the fact we have really excellent
lecturers that take their time to make sure we understand. And there’s something they
recently started, where lecturers have certain hours you can meet them after the typical
lecture times which helps to get the hang of what they’re teaching you. And that’s
basically it. I’m originally from Nigeria, in Africa.
I like a number of things about Aberdeen. I like the fact that the people are welcoming.
I like the fact, ok one thing that I thought I wouldn’t like at the initial stage was
the weather but as I got accustomed to it, it wasn’t really bad. I just figure that.
I like the fact that it is a very quiet city, I like a quiet environment.
