Adam: Computer Science at Curtin University

My name is Adam Watkins I’m in my second year
I’m studying Computer Science and yeah I’m really enjoying Curtin and everything it offers. Basically I was doing Electrical Engineering
at a different university and I discovered it wasn’t really what I wanted to do so I
assessed my options and came back and looked at Curtin and the program they offered for
Computer Science was something that really appealed to me. So I chose to go there and
it’s been really great so far. The best part of my course so far is probably
the interaction between lecturers and students. There’s a lot of interaction and you can you
feel free to approach your lecturer or tutor at any time and ask for any questions and
it’s great you can go up to and talk to them if you’re having any problems and they’ll
come through and help you with them. So it’s really good. It’s definitely a challenge taking responsibility
for your own studies. You have to be very self motivated, that’s a big thing and you
also have to be not too proud to go and ask for help if you need it. Curtin’s got a lot of great facilities such
as the Student Guild, the transition centre, the START team, and if you find that you’re
really having big issues with your course and you want to change courses or you’re worried
about dropping out of uni, Curtin’s got those facilities there for you so it’s great. I’m definitely, confident that the skills
I’ve learnt here at Curtin and my degree will help me in my professional development, wherever
I choose to go.
